James Durban Ambigram

I’m a huge fan of James Durban on American Idol. I told my wife before the judges had picked the top 24 that “this James Durban guy was going all the way”.

…and I meant ALL the way.

Not only is he crazy talented, but since my step-daughter is on the autistic spectrum, he is inspirational on multiple levels.

So James, this creation is for you.

It’s an ambigram that says “James Durban” no matter how you read it. It is exactly identical whether it is read upright or upside-down. I thought that this edgier style was a good fit for James. This design would be sweet on one of those wrist cuffs that James wears (James – If you agree, just give me the word, and I will hook you up with this awesome men’s ambigram bracelet from Kay Jewelers with this design on it).

For all James Durban fans everywhere, this is for you.

You rock, James. Keep blowing them away!

Circle Ambigram Generator

If you haven’t seen the new features of the ambigram generator (like circle ambigrams) on the main FlipScript site, you’ll want to check it out. There are a bunch of new features.

You will now see chain ambigrams, multi-line word wrapped ambigrams, ambigrams with and without the word “and” separating them, and even circle ambigrams.

It’s that last one I wanted to focus on here.

Some of the geometry was tricky in getting the two “ends” of the ambigram to smoothly come together to create a circle ambigram, but I think we nailed it. Here is an example of what a circle ambigram from the ambigram generator looks like:

A Story with Integrated Ambigrams

I just finished creating a little story about ambigrams… using ambigrams.

It looks longer than it is, since the font size is huge and there are big gaps between the lines out of necessity. It’s a pretty fast read (well, unless you stop and rotate your head at each ambigram).

I am pretty sure that this is the first-ever story with integrated ambigrams.
