A very cool way of showing your connection to that special someone is for the two of you to wear a pair of ambigram rings. This Ambigram Ring Etiquette Guide shows you the proper way for the two of you to wear your rings.
The cool thing about ambigram rings is that they are identical. However, they are designed to be worn differently. You wear your ring in one orientation, and your loved one wears their ring in the other orientation.
Look down at the top of your hand. When you look at your hand, you normally see it “fingers up”, with your wrist below your fingers, and your fingers furthest from your body.
However, when you show the tops of your fingers to others, you typically bend at the wrist and point your fingers down. So, other people see your hand as “fingers down”, and your fingers are now below your wrist (exactly the opposite view point from your own). This is very natural, even though it is probably not something you’ve ever thought about before.
With an ambigram ring, you always want to wear your ring so that when you look down, you always see your loved one’s name. Yet, when you show the ring to others, they will always see it as saying your name first.
For example, in a ring made from my name (“Mark”) and my wife’s name (“Laurie”), I would wear it so that I see my sweetheart’s name every time I look down.
However, whenever I show the ring to others, they would always see my name instead. However, I could also turn my wrist to show that the ring also displays my wife’s name as well.
Of course, with a pair of ambigram rings, my honey would wear the same exact design, but in the opposite orientation. So it would say her name when she shows it to others, but she will always reminded of me every time she looks down.
Ambigram rings are one of the most romantic gifts you can buy. I hope this guide to ambigram ring etiquette helps you to display your rings proudly to the world.
